We are Orla and Armand; a couple living in Ballineen in West Cork. We chose the name Farraige for our business, as it means sea in Irish and we feel we have a strong connection to it through our work and our life.
We have been pressing seaweed since February 2022, and it all started as a hobby to make beautiful pieces of art. We now want to share this beauty with everyone else.
We carefully and sustainably forage lovely seaweed specimens from the beaches of West Cork. Once home, we then clean them before pressing them onto watercolour paper. We love the impatient excitement that we get every time we open the press and reveal the results; every seaweed is a different wonder of shapes and colours.
